Pilot – Custom Urushi Black
For centuries, the art of urushi lacquering has been used in Japan. The sap of the Japanese lacquer tree is extracted and outgoing through an extended process to become urushi lacquer.
The Pilot Custom Urushi embodies this ancient technique, being crafted from Japanese ebonite and meticulously lacquered in order to have a unique, smooth and deep colour finish.
Similar to their renowned Namiki pens, Pilot employs the refined lacquering technique called Roiro, which demands substantial time and skill to achieve the mirror finish of the Custom Urushi.
The manufacturing process of each pen takes several months due to the intricate application of Urushi lacquer. It is applied onto the ebonite base and left to dry for several days before being polished and coated with a new layer of lacquer. This meticulous process continues until the pen is completed.
The Custom Urushi is a king-size pen available in two color options: black and vermilion red. This marvellous writing instrument comes equipped with one of the most regarded nibs from Pilot – the size 30 dual tone 18k gold nib.
This exquisite writing instrument is delivered in an exclusive gift box and comes with a CON-70 vacuum piston converter or can be used with Pilot IC cartridges.
