This fountain pen pays homage to the life and enduring influence of one of history’s most significant scientists and intellectuals, Galileo Galilei. Born on February 15th, 1564, in Pisa, Tuscany, Galileo was a pioneering figure in scientific exploration, excelling as an astronomer, inventor, philosopher, and writer.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the fountain pen features an aged Vermeil and demo resin body, allowing a clear view of the ink level and the unique filling system inspired by Galileo’s technical brilliance. This system, reminiscent of our Power Filler Double Reservoir, omits an external piston in the blind cap, ensuring safer, cleaner, and more consistent refills, seamlessly integrated with the pen’s barrel design.
The writing instrument showcases demo resin in the section and cap, offering a captivating glimpse of the 18kt gold palladium-plated nib. Drawing inspiration from Galileo’s era, the pen’s decorative elements evoke the Baroque craftsmanship, employing antiqued vermeil and polished palladium to achieve a subtle chiaroscuro effect. The finely engraved demo moon phases and Florentine lilies further elevate the pen’s aesthetic appeal.
Beyond its technical marvels, the Galileo pen is accompanied by an extraordinary desk set. Housed in a wooden case, the set features a distinctive stand for the pen, resembling a telescope aimed at the heavens. Modeled after Galileo’s astrolabes, the stand showcases a globe of the Earth orbiting a golden Sun.
